Articulate Tone Meets Top-notch USA Quality

The new Taylor AD12e potently pairs an elegant Grand Concert body style with value-packed American Dream features, including solid-wood construction and stage-ready electronics. A solid spruce top ensures a classic, bright but focused Taylor tone. Solid walnut back and sides round out the AD12e with crystalline clarity, similar to rosewood, but with warmer bass and a more present top-end that complements the Grand Concert shape. The AD12e’s smooth body edges and mahogany neck both deliver astounding instantaneous playing comfort that’s long been a player-favorite pick for the stage and studio. If you’re looking for bold acoustic guitar value at a great price, look no further than the Taylor AD12e from Sweetwater!

Articulate Grand Concert comfort

For fingerstyle and tracking, Sweetwater’s guitar gurus favor Taylor’s Grand Concert body style, which gives you clarity and a balanced tone that lends itself to layering with other instruments in thicker arrangements where a larger-bodied acoustic would take up too much space. The AD12e’s smaller Grand Concert body and tapered waist not only make it a great studio and stage guitar, but its short scale and lighter string tension also make it easier to play — perfect for younger players with small hands. It also makes for a more efficient design in that the smaller body is inherently stronger, which enables it to be more lightly braced, making it easier to set the strings in motion.

Cutting-edge Taylor Expression System 2 electronics:

Amplified players are going to love the Taylor Expression System 2 electronics built into the AD11e! The ES2 system features a revolutionary segmented pickup located behind the bridge saddle; this pickup position delivers remarkably accurate and clear sound production that’s authentic to your playing. Each ES2 system features a handy master volume knob for fast level adjustments, in addition to a 2-band EQ for independent treble/bass adjustments to get the sound you need. Plus, the ES2 system also has a built-in phase switch, which offers essential feedback suppression whenever the system is active.

American Dream: guitars worth chasing

Taylor’s commitment to gigging musicians is nowhere more apparent than the American Dream series. Each American Dream acoustic guitar features gig-worthy solid-wood construction that yields rich, complex resonance fit for a pro. Available in a variety of body styles, American Dream guitars are built in Taylor’s flagship California facility for quality you can trust. Other noteworthy touches include smooth body edges for comfort onstage and a premium paper-thin .002-inch finish that optimizes acoustic resonance with the added feel of a light, true-wood acoustic guitar.

Taylor American Dream AD12e Grand Concert Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Taylor Grand Concert comfort — slim dimensions, tapered waist, and short-scale fingerboard
  • Well suited for tracking, fingerstyle, and onstage performance
  • Spruce top fuels classic Taylor tone that’s bright, clear, and full
  • Walnut back and sides yield clear, full-bodied tone with defined lows and highs
  • Comfortable mahogany neck with matte finish
  • Smoked eucalyptus fingerboard — smoking process removes moisture for bold stability and lighter weight
  • V-class bracing enhances tone and sustain for longer, louder notes and chords
  • Tone-enhancing hardware, including satin Taylor tuners, TUSQ nut, and sturdy smoked eucalyptus bridge
  • Taylor ES2 electronics with 2-band EQ

Amazing Instrument

We played this up against very expensive models from Martin, Takamine, and even other Taylors. It blew them away. Amazing sound. The best acoustic I've ever owned.

Solid Guitar

Over the past couple years, I got a Gibson L00, Gibson J45 and a Martin 00015M. The Martin is a better guitar than both Gibsons. I was definitely not expecting that. Apparently, Gibson does not set up their guitars, and they also don't check on the pick ups. The L00 was probably the most impressive smallish guitar I've ever played, however, the pick up rattled. The 50s faded J 45 sounded spectacular, better than anything I've ever owned, but it was not set up, and it sounded terrible further up the neck. Also, the neck was slower than molasses. I like smaller bodied guitars for the most part. They are just easier for me to write with and easier to record with.

The AD12E has a sitka Spruce top, walnut back and sides, and an itty-bitty waist. I got it because it reminded me of a vintage small body Gibson. And it's everything the Gibsons couldn't deliver. There's nothing spectacular about it but it's the best guitar I have. The tuners are tight. Action is perfect. It's always right when recording or writing. The J45 is called "the workhorse." The AD12E is definitely my workhorse. It's smaller and somehow superior. My best friend borrowed it while we were at the beach. He threw some heavier gauge strings on it. It did not care. My other guitars react to that but this one is a different animal. I totally recommend this guitar.
