The Classic Martin Sound Meets Modern Playability

The Martin OM-28E Modern Deluxe combines old-world Martin styling with modern advances to create a vintage guitar for today's player. The guitar's sweet, warm tone comes from an all-solid tonewood combination of a spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. The compact Orchestra Model (OM) body style delivers powerful, articulate tones that sit well in any mix. The ebony fingerboard received a factory Plek treatment to ensure that your new axe plays perfectly right out of the case. The OM-28E Modern Deluxe has all the touches you'd expect to see on a traditionally-styled Martin, including, herringbone purfling, flamed maple binding, inlaid rosette, and genuine abalone inlays. Simply put, this guitar's understated elegance is perfectly complemented by its classic Martin tone.

VTS aging process creates brand new instruments with a broken-in feel

One of the most sought-after tones in the acoustic world is that of a vintage Martin. Guitars that have aged for more than 50 years have a quality about them that players can't get enough of. With vintage prices rising, Martin set out to perfect a way to re-create vintage Martin magic at an accessible price point. They emerged from R&D with the Vintage Tone System (VTS). VTS ages the top wood and braces of a guitar to a specific age/period to achieve an aged and broken-in feel. Next, a gloss finish is hand-applied to give the guitar the coloring of a vintage instrument. Martin’s guitars with VTS tops not only look like vintage guitars, but they also have that signature sound.

Classic tonewood pairing looks good, but sounds better

Ask guitar buffs at Sweetwater what their favorite acoustic tonewood pairing is, and they're likely to list spruce and East Indian rosewood. This is because each tonewood perfectly complements its partner. Spruce is valued for its strength and detailed articulation. Even when you dig in with a flat pick, it provides impressive note definition. To make sure this guitar really sings, Martin used scalloped top bracing. This means that the bracing is filed down toward the edge of the guitar, letting it respond much more effectively when you pick. Let's not forget about the real star of the show though — rosewood. What can't we say about rosewood? Rosewood has been used on the finest instruments for centuries, and it's easy to see why. It produces warm, deep, and lively tones, and looks stunning under a glossy finish.

Fishman Aura VT Blend electronics deliver unbeatable plugged-in tone

Fishman's breakthrough acoustic sound imaging technology makes you sound like you're playing into a great mic in a great room. The OM-28's onboard Aura VT Blend system gives you studio-quality sound to take to the stage or use in home recordings. Unlike modeling, Aura blends real pro recordings with your acoustic signal to create a tone you won't find anywhere else but on a Martin. The Aura VT Blend is also equipped with an automatic search-and-destroy notch filter to latch onto feedback and eliminate it after a few seconds.

Martin: Always on the cutting edge

Martin has been creating innovative acoustic guitars since 1833. They've embraced cutting-edge techniques to create world-beating instruments that players revere. Martin is responsible for the popularization of the dreadnought, the 14th-fret neck joint, X-bracing, and the introduction of steel-string core wire. Martin constantly tweaks their instruments to provide players with more comfort, improved playability, and better sound. To do this, they've utilized unorthodox tonewoods, Richlite fingerboards, and cutting-edge Plek technology — all for the sake of the player. Martin has been innovating for the best part of two centuries, and they don't plan to stop any time soon.

Martin OM 28 Deluxe

I own 6 Martins. The King is my HD 28. But this OM is the real deal great tones, both bass and high notes. Resonates, easy to play. Action is great. Neck is easy on your wrist. Recorded with it just last night in my studio in our garage. Used my little shore Mike hook up to my phone. Have Mike hanging to puck up sounds, both voice and guitar. Plugged into a Fender amp. Sounded great. Guitar not plugged in. This guitar is outstanding. And the appointments are beautiful. Not only great to play. But it is fun just to open the caes and look at it. Great buy.

Honest opinion after a year of ownership

I've owned a 000-28 for about 15 years. I really like the auditorium size of the body and sound of it but the neck was a bit too narrow for me. Most of my other guitars have a wider neck and a V-shaped profile. Also it lacks a pickup. I had a chance to spend some time a few years ago with an OM-42 at a guitar show and really liked the feel of the wider neck. When the modern deluxe series was released it ticked all the boxes for me: Auditorium body, OM neck size and profile, vintage sound, and a pickup system that sounds like a properly miked acoustic guitar (NOT a rubber band). Sold. I'm in love with the sound of this guitar; so pure. And the pickup system is just brilliant. But (you know there was one...) the frets/neck are WRONG. If seems like the frets are too high for the neck profile. This guitar actually hurts my left hand if I play it for a long period of time. Perhaps a bit more radius on the fretboard? I can play my 000-28 for hours without any fatigue. Would I sell this instrument and buy something else? No. But, I can envision my perfect acoustic guitar with the playablity of a Taylor and the sound of a Martin. Perhaps one already exists? I'd also like to thank the always professional Sweetwater staff and Tyler in particular for assisting me with this purchase.

Good Workmanship, bad electronics.

No way to replicate your live sound because you have no way to know what your volume or balance is because they put the controls in the sound hole; "smacks forehead." I wasted money paying for these electronics.
