An All-mahogany Ibanez Acoustic with Solid Top

The Ibanez Artwood AC340 acoustic-electric guitar delivers far more value than you’d expect. In addition to its mahogany back and sides, it features a solid mahogany top that will increase in harmonic richness as it ages. And its real bone nut and saddle, plus Thermo Aged bridge and bridge plate, also add tonal richness and complexity. And its comfortable Grand Concert body style offers a midrange-rich voice that sits well in any mix. In other words, the Ibanez Artwood AC340 delivers tone and performance that stands out in its class.

Comfortable Grand Concert body

Many guitarists at Sweetwater find that the Grand Concert body style is more comfortable to hold and play than larger body styles. This body style also adds subtle enhancements to midrange frequencies, which helps your tone fit into a mix more easily when you’re recording or performing in a band.

Real bone nut and saddle

If you’re familiar with guitar maintenance and modifications, you know that real bone is often the choice of top luthiers for nut and saddle material. These contact points have a big impact on the sound of your instrument, affecting both your frequency balance and sustain. The Artwood AC340 features a real bone nut and saddle, setting it apart from many guitars in its class.

Ibanez AC340 Left-handed Acoustic Guitar Features:

  • 6-string all-mahogany acoustic guitar with a solid top
  • Satin mahogany neck provides excellent playability
  • Thermo Aged bridge and real bone nut and saddle offer subtle sweetening
  • Grand Concert body provides extreme comfort and excellent tonal balance
  • Chrome die-cast tuners ensure stable intonation

Great first guitar that's more on the affordable side

I've been playing for a long time, but bought this for my 13 year old son so he could learn to play.

The important things regarding a first guitar:
This is a very nice looking guitar! The wood grain is nice and the binding on the neck and body add a nice classy touch. It seems to be constructed well (Ibanez usually does a great job at all price points), plays great, and stays in tune really well. Sometimes lower cost guitars don't stay in tune and are so much of a hassle to deal with that it's not worth picking up and playing. Very discouraging for a beginner or anyone really. Not this one! It's a solid player that looks nice and you'll want to pick up and play.

Other considerations:
The body of this is a little smaller than my standard dreadnought sized guitar (but it's not a child size), so it's easier for my son to hold and get his strumming arm around. With the "open pore" finish, it's obviously not glossy, and it feels a little unfinished. Not a bad thing, just different than mine. Probably helps keep the cost down. All-in-all if feels good to play. The neck is easy to get around on.

It definitely has more mid range tone than mine, but it sounds good. Again, not bad, just different.

It does not have any electronics (pickup, mic, tuner, etc) on it. My son doesn't need any of that, but if that's something you really want, you might want to consider another model. It think they make a similar model that has electronics. This is also something that can be added pretty easily later if needed.

The only minor thing is that the corners on the nut are a little sharper than I am used to. That may just be how they do it. I'm used to rounded/beveled corners. I can feel it a little when I play, but my son can't because he's just learning. Not a big deal, but we'll probably swap that out some day down the road.

If you're looking for a first guitar, I'd highly recommend this one. Especially for lefties since there is a lot less options to choose from. It looks and plays great out of the box and you won't have to upgrade for a while.

Ibanez AC 340 OPN Acoustic Guitar Left Handed

I was a little skeptical, but what a pleasant surprise. The sound far exceeds expectations and is very comfortable to play sitting around. Body is small enough to be a travel guitar but big enough for good projection and tone. Love the open pore wood and finish, don't have to worry about smudges and such and it just feels great in your hands. It looks awesome too! The only thing I had to do was lower the action, no big deal.
For all you lefty's out there who never get to try out guitars in a store, don't hesitate on this one. And by the way, if you need a gig bag, I did a lot of measuring and the Gator Economy Gig Bag for a Classical Guitar is a perfect fit (which I also bought from Sweetwater). Cudos to Sweetwater all around!
Rock on!

I love this guitar!

I've had this guitar about a month and a half now and I'm so pleased with it! I love how the Thermo Aged gives the wood an even darker color, I love the tones that this guitar produces, plus I love the concert series body. I would highly recommend this guitar for anyone. It is definitely definitely worth every penny. I would even choose this guitar over more higher prices guitars.
Music background: I've played guitar for 20 plus years.

Helping a friend

Sorry sweetwater, I did not purchase this guitar for myself, I was helping out a work teammate that is getting into guitar, but didn't have the funds to make the purchase. He had been looking locally for a Left handed guitar with no success, so I made the purchase for him. He loves it, and picked out the one he wanted and loves it. PC-Le Mars, Iowa.

Better then other guitars priced above it.

This is my 3rd Ibanez AW series guitar. My first guitar ever was an AW54 and then I found an older AW300 new in the box. Both came perfect out of the box, but this one needed a slight neck adjustment to lower the action and make the guitar easy on the fingers. outside of needing a minor adjustment, I couldn't be happier. It has great tone, is comfortable, and the resonance is better than I expected. I get clear and present Mids, exceptional highs, and the low end is the great Suprise. My only real complaint is the tuners, they are the same of my AW54 was, but seem like lower quality tuners. my AW300 came with Grover 18:1 tuner.

The price point is especially good, and it feels and sounds like you're playing a more expensive instrument. This is a great value and easy to play. I'd buy again.
