Compact Jumbo Acoustic Bass with Premium Appointments

The Jumbo Junior Bass acoustic-electric bass guitar stands out among basses with its solid Sitka spruce top and Guild's iconic arched back in flamed maple. Along with the solid wood top, this compact instrument offers such premium features as a real bone nut/saddle and Guild's AP-1 piezo pickup system for great plugged-in tone. The Jumbo Junior body style delivers the look of a jumbo in a smaller size that's comfortable for most players. Whether you're searching for your first acoustic bass or a travel thumper that's made to a higher standard, Sweetwater can highly recommend the Guild Jumbo Junior Bass.

Solid wood top will only get better with age

An acoustic stringed instrument's top plays a huge role in its overall tone, and that's why we're pleased to see the Jumbo Junior Bass is topped with a real piece of solid Sitka spruce. While the Guild Jumbo Junior Bass sounds great straight from Guild, you'll notice more harmonic complexity and sonic range after playing for a number of years.

AP-1 electronics for plugged-in acoustic performance

Thanks to the built-in Guild AP-1 active acoustic piezo pickup system, you can also perform or record with your Jumbo Junior Bass. The AP-1's sensitive piezo pickup will transfer every nuance of the bone saddle's vibrations into precise voltages that are sent intact from the 1/4" output jack to your PA or audio interface. This makes the Jumbo Junior Bass as versatile as it is sonically pleasing.

Guild Jumbo Junior Bass Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Compact acoustic bass with the look of a jumbo — but in a more comfortable size
  • Solid Sitka spruce top will gain even more harmonic complexity as it ages
  • Beautiful flamed maple back and sides, just like tonewoods used in upright basses for centuries
  • Well-balanced tone with impressive projection for such a compact instrument
  • Ready for plugged-in performance with Guild's AP-1 active acoustic piezo pickup system
  • Real bone nut and saddle for better vibratory transfer to the bass's body and piezo pickup

Little Body, Big Sound!

Went looking for acoustic basses locally. Played a few full scale, but just too big for me, and the sound was meh! Played a few short scale basses some VERY expensive others too cheap. Taylor was nice but sound did not project well. A very inexpensive model almost ripped my hand apart from unfinished frets, but had a huge sound....took a chance by reading reviews of a few models and luckily found a review on the Guild Jumbo Junior. Very familiar with Guild from way back in the day, and owning a 67 Starfire V, and good reviews led me to take a chance...I was not disappointed!
This guitar although small in size, it produces a huge sound acoustically. Great sound projection, easy to play! Very hard to put down once you start. Fit and finish is excellent! The Fishman onboard pickup does not have a wide tone variation to play with, so you will need to rely on your amp for that.
I am very, very happy with my purchase. I would highly reccommend!

Beautiful bass!

Compact instrument that's perfect for the medium size person. The sound is excellent plugged in and unplugged. Unplugged the bass sounds much like an upright bass. Plugged in can be played very loud. The strings came set close to the fretboard - the way I like it because it's easy to play. Real bass guitar!

Short Scale

Needed a Bass to pick up and play around the house unplugged. Having purchased Guild products before I was comfortable with the name. Not wanting to spend a whole lot this purchase, Guild seemed like the best bet after a few days of researching around. The 55-point inspection is important to me, and my inspectors seemed to do another good job. The Bass sounds really good. It is really fun to play, plugged or unplugged. Fit and finish is to my liking.

Just Happy

This little beauty fits the bill. I bought for my older hand issues. A savior for me. Good quality and pretty good set-up out of the box. This works well for just practicing without the amp.

Just what I was looking for.

Took delivery of my new Guild acoustic bass yesterday and waited the customary 24 hours to acclimate. Trying it out for the first time today, the size, shap, feel and tone are just right. Can't wait to plug in the Fishman and hear it's electronic voice!
